Dispatch 1: Slovenia

To officially reserve your place:

$777 deposit

The remaining balance will be split into three payments:

$2,000 in January 2027
$1,500 in March 2027
$1,500 in May 2027

No giant surprise payment at the end.

What Are We Doing?

This is the current skeleton of the adventure.

And skeleton is intentional.

We want enough structure that you never have to worry about where you're sleeping or what happens next, while leaving enough room for Slovenia to surprise us.

Day 1 — Ljubljana

Arrive. Get settled. Meet your group.

We'll wander Ljubljana before sitting down for our first proper Slovenian dinner: beautiful local food, small plates, wine pairings, and an introduction to what the next several days are going to feel like.

Day 2 — Ljubljana → Piran

Morning at Ljubljana's market, followed by enough wandering to properly say goodbye to the city.

Then we head south toward the Adriatic.

We'll check into our hotel in Piran, give you some time to get lost on your own, and regroup that evening for drinks and dinner in one of our favorite corners of the city.

Day 3 — Into the Hills

From the coast we'll move inland and upward into the hills of southwestern Slovenia.

Vineyards. Cellars. Winemakers. Long lunches.

We'll spend the day visiting producers before settling into one of the more unusual places we found during our own travels through Slovenia.

Day 4 — Truffles, Wine & Gorizia

We start with dogs.

Specifically, very talented dogs whose job is finding truffles.

We'll head into the woods for a truffle hunt, followed by a meal built around what we find.

Then more wine, a few wonderfully Slovenian oddities, and eventually north toward Gorizia for pizza, wandering, and sleep.

Day 5 — Wine Country, Properly

Wake up slowly.

Drink coffee.

Recover.

Then we'll head into one of Slovenia's great wine regions for a full day among vineyards and cellars, visiting some of the producers and places that have made this tiny part of the world legendary among wine people.

That evening, dinner gets serious.

Day 6 — More Wine & Something Medieval

More beautiful country.

More wineries.

Long conversations.

Lunches that probably take too long.

Very little reason to look at your phone.

And that evening, we'll head somewhere considerably older than any of us for one final Slovenian feast in appropriately ridiculous surroundings.

Day 7 — Ljubljana & Release Back Into the Universe

We'll return to Ljubljana by late morning or lunchtime and have one final meal together.

And then you're free.

Catch your flight home.

Check into another hotel.

Take a train to Italy.

Stay in Ljubljana.

Disappear into Europe for another two weeks.

Go home and sleep for three days.

From that point forward, what happens is entirely up to you.

What Your Deposit Does

Your $777 deposit moves you from the interest list into the actual trip.

We are accepting a maximum of approximately 36 travelers total, divided into small groups of roughly 12 people per departure.

We expect the individual trips to take place across roughly three weeks in June 2027.

You do not need to know your exact week before reserving your spot.

After deposits are collected, you’ll have a chance to tell us which dates work best for you, which dates absolutely do not work, who you’re traveling with, and who you would like to be grouped with.

Then we’ll build the individual departures.

What’s Included

Your trip price is designed to cover essentially everything once the adventure begins.

Lodging.

Ground transportation throughout Slovenia.

Programmed meals.

Winery visits and tastings.

Truffle hunting.

Tours and cultural experiences.

Guides, admissions, and the assorted beautiful nonsense we find along the way.

The goal is pretty simple:

Show up.

Eat.

Drink.

Wander.

Let us worry about the rest.

What’s Not Included

You are responsible for your airfare to and from Europe, travel insurance, passport expenses, personal shopping, and anything you decide to do before or after the official trip.

At the end of the trip, we’ll return you to Ljubljana around lunchtime.

From there, you’re free.

Fly home.

Stay another week.

Go to Italy.

Disappear into Europe.

That part is entirely up to you.

Before You Put Money Down

A few important things.

This is a small-group adventure, not a conventional tour.

There will be walking.

There will be old cities, hills, stairs, vineyards, cellars, long meals, and an unreasonable amount of wine.

There will also be some flexibility.

Specific wineries, restaurants, hotels, and experiences may shift as reservations are finalized.

That is intentional.

Some of the best things we found in Slovenia happened because somebody said:

“Actually, you should go here.”

We want enough structure that you never have to worry about what happens next, and enough room for the trip to still feel alive.

Cancellation & Travel Terms

Before submitting your deposit, please review the Traveler Agreement, which includes the full payment schedule, cancellation policy, itinerary flexibility, traveler responsibilities, and other important trip terms.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

Please also do not purchase nonrefundable airfare until your individual departure dates have been confirmed in writing.

June 22–28, 2027

Each departure will be limited to roughly 12 travelers.

When you place your deposit, you’ll later be able to rank your preferred trip dates, tell us which dates absolutely do not work, and let us know who you’re traveling with.

We’ll make every reasonable effort to place you into your preferred departure, but exact group assignments will depend on overall demand and availability.

Your $777 deposit reserves your place on the Slovenia trip, with final placement into one of the three June departures confirmed after traveler preferences are collected.

Your deposit officially reserves your place subject to final departure assignment and the terms of the Traveler Agreement.

After your deposit is complete, you’ll receive the next round of trip information and your traveler questionnaire.

That’s where the real planning begins.
