Slovenia 2027 FAQ

How much does the trip cost?
The total cost is $5,777 per person.

Your place is reserved with a $777 deposit, followed by three payments:

$2,000 in January 2027
$1,500 in March 2027
$1,500 in May 2027

And then you are officially financially done with us, which feels nice.

What does the price include?
The goal is for the trip price to cover essentially everything once the adventure begins.

That includes lodging, ground transportation throughout the trip, programmed meals, winery visits, tastings, tours, truffle hunting, cultural experiences, and the various other things we have planned along the way.

You should not be spending the week constantly reaching for your wallet.

What is not included?
Your flights to Europe and home again are not included.

You are also responsible for travel insurance, passports or other travel-document expenses, personal shopping, free-time purchases, and anything you decide to do before or after the official trip.

When exactly is the trip?
The trips will take place over roughly three weeks in June 2027.

We expect to operate several separate departures, each lasting approximately six full days, with return to Ljubljana around lunchtime on the following day.

You do not need to know your exact travel week before placing your deposit.

How do I choose which week I go?
After deposits are collected, we will send everyone a traveler questionnaire.

You’ll be able to tell us which part of June you prefer, which dates absolutely do not work, who you are traveling with, and who you would like to be grouped with.

We’ll use that information to assemble the individual departures.

We will do everything reasonably possible to honor preferences, although we cannot guarantee every person their first-choice dates.

Wait, are there really 36 people going?
Yes and no.

We are accepting a maximum of approximately 36 travelers total, but we are absolutely not dragging 36 people around Slovenia at the same time.

That sounds terrible.

The larger group will be divided into smaller departures of approximately 12 travelers each.

Think dinner-table-sized, not tour-bus-sized.

Can I travel with my spouse, partner, or friends?
Absolutely.

After your deposit is in, you’ll be able to tell us who you are traveling with and which reservations should remain together.

We will keep couples, families, and requested travel companions together whenever reasonably possible.

Can someone come who is not a Les Bois Wine Club member?
Yes.

Wine Club members and those who originally raised their hands are receiving the first opportunity to reserve, but the trip itself is not limited exclusively to Wine Club members.

If there are spaces remaining after the early-access period, they may be offered more broadly.

What kind of trip is this?
This is not a traditional bus tour.

There will be a thoughtfully planned itinerary, but there will also be room for wandering, long lunches, unexpected winery invitations, changes of plans, and occasional moments where someone says, “Apparently we need to go down this road.”

If you require every minute of every day to happen exactly as printed six months earlier, this may not be your ideal vacation.

If that sentence made you more excited, you’re probably in the right place.

How much walking will there be?
You should expect a reasonable amount of walking.

Slovenia has old cities, cobblestones, hills, stairs, vineyards, cellars, and historic buildings. This is not an athletic expedition, but it is also not a sit-on-a-bus-and-look-out-the-window experience.

If you have mobility or accessibility concerns, tell us on your traveler questionnaire so we can discuss what may be possible.

Do I have to be a serious wine person?
Absolutely not.

You should probably enjoy wine, food, people, and trying things.

Nobody is going to quiz you on grape varieties before allowing you into the van.

Some people will know a tremendous amount about wine. Others will simply know that they like drinking it. Both are welcome.

Do I have to drink alcohol?
No.

Wine will obviously be a major part of the trip, but nobody is required to drink.

You are always welcome to taste selectively, spit, skip a wine, or not drink at all.

What about dietary restrictions or food allergies?
We’ll collect dietary restrictions and allergy information after deposits are made and will make reasonable efforts to communicate those needs to the restaurants and providers we work with.

Because we’ll be traveling internationally and eating at independently operated restaurants, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.

If you have a serious food allergy, please make sure we know about it well before departure.

What kind of lodging should I expect?
A mix.

Part of the fun of this trip is that the accommodations are intended to be part of the experience rather than six nights in the same beige business hotel.

Some will be polished. Some will be unusual. Some may make you wonder how Benjamin found them.

More detailed lodging information will be provided as reservations are finalized.

Is the $5,777 price based on sharing a room?
This is one item we are still finalizing.

Our current pricing is being built around standard shared or double occupancy. Private rooms may be available for an additional cost depending on the hotels and availability.

We’ll give you clear rooming options before any additional room charge is required.

Should I book my flight now?
No.

Please wait until your individual departure dates have been confirmed in writing before buying nonrefundable airfare.

Once groups are assigned, we’ll provide arrival and departure guidance to make flight planning easier.

Where does the trip begin and end?
The adventure begins in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

At the end of the trip, we will return you to Ljubljana around late morning or lunchtime.

We’ll have one final lunch together, and then we release you into the universe.

From there, you can fly home, stay in Ljubljana, head into Italy, continue traveling around Europe, or make whatever other questionable decisions seem appropriate.

Do I need a passport?
Yes.

You are responsible for having a valid passport and any travel documentation required for your particular citizenship.

We’ll send general reminders as the trip gets closer, but ultimately each traveler is responsible for making sure they can legally travel.

Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it.

This is a substantial international trip with hotels, transportation, meals, and experiences being booked well in advance.

Travel insurance can help protect you from certain unexpected cancellations, medical emergencies, flight problems, and other travel disasters.

Please review the actual policy you purchase so you understand what is and is not covered.

What happens if I have to cancel?
Our cancellation and refund rules are spelled out in the Traveler Agreement, which you will review before submitting your deposit.

The general idea is simple: the closer we get to the trip, the more money will already have been committed to hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, and other vendors, so refunds become more limited over time.

If you need to cancel and we are able to replace you without taking a financial loss, we will make reasonable efforts to return recoverable funds.

What happens if Les Bois cancels my trip?
If Les Bois cancels your departure and cannot offer you another departure that works for you, the applicable refund terms will be governed by the Traveler Agreement.

Please review those terms before placing your deposit.

Is the itinerary final?
No.

And that is intentional.

The general route and character of the trip are established, but specific wineries, restaurants, hotels, activities, and timing may change as reservations are finalized.

We are leaving ourselves enough flexibility to make the trip better when opportunities come up.

When will I get the final itinerary?
You’ll receive increasingly detailed information as the trip gets closer.

Hotels, departure groups, transportation, restaurants, winery appointments, packing information, and arrival instructions will all be communicated in stages.

You are not going to wake up three days before departure wondering where Slovenia is.

What happens after I put down my deposit?
First, celebrate.

You are going to Slovenia.

Then you’ll receive your traveler questionnaire, where you’ll give us your preferred dates, travel companions, rooming preferences, dietary information, accessibility needs, passport status, and a few other details.

From there, we’ll start building the individual groups and gradually feed you increasingly nerdy Slovenia information until June arrives.

I have a weird question that is not answered here. What do I do?
Good.

That probably means we forgot something.

Send it our way and there is a decent chance your question gets added to this page, thereby making you part of the infrastructure of an international travel operation.

A terrifying honor.
